Depart for Madrid

Your pilgrimage begins as you depart for Spain, entrusting your journey to the Lord. As you travel overnight, take time for prayer and quiet reflection, preparing your heart for the graces that await.

MADRID - AVILA

Upon arrival to Madrid, Meeting with our tour leader and driver and drive to Avila. If the flight schedule allows it, we will stop at the Real Monastery of St Lorenzo of Escorial for a visit and were we will have the Holy Mass. Accommodation in our hotel in Avila. dinner and overnight

Day 3
ALBA DE TORMES - SALAMANCA

Breakfast in hotel and start of the visits of Avila. We will start entering the Convent of St. Teresa, erected in the place she was born. We will continue then to the Cathedral dedicated to San Salvador. The Ávila Cathedral is truly a cathedral-castle with battlements and sentry walks incorporated into the structure. Celebrate Mass at the Church of St. Teresa. Time for Lunch Before Leaving Avila we will visit the Convent of the incarnation, where the Saint lived for 27 years before beginning the Carmelite reform. Transfer to Alba de Tormes, historic town linked to the life and legacy of St Teresa. It was here that the saint died in 1582, and her tomb is preserved in the Carmelite Monastery of the Annunciation. At the end of the visit we will continue to Salamanca. Accommodation in our hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4
SALAMANCA - LEON

Breakfast in hotel and guided tour of Salamanca. As the first Spanish city to found a university, Salamanca is filled with students especially in the historic district. The past is visible in the Old Cathedral, the huge Plaza Mayor and the Monterrey Palace, all splendid buildings that rightfully earned the city a place on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list in 1988. We will visit the old and the new cathedral and the university. At the end of the Visits, time for lunch and transfer to Leon.
Upon arrival, accommodation in our hotel and visit of Leon and its magnificent Cathedral. The cathedral of Leon was built starting in 1205 by workers of French origin who brought the culture of the great Gothic cathedrals to Spain. It took two centuries to finish it but since then its great and fragile beauty has enchanted the main square. The atmosphere and sensations when walking next to and inside it are strong, the smell of stone and incense which for centuries have perfumed the walls give a great sense of peace but also of mystery. Holy Mass. Dinner and overnight.

LEON/O CEBREIRO - LUGO

Breakfast in hotel. ln the morning we will make our way to the Galizia region. First stop will be in O Cebreiro. O Cebreiro marks the traditional entrance into Galicia on the Camino de Santiago and is a place of deep spiritual significance for pilgrims. We will visit the Church of Santa María la Real, where the Eucharistic Miracle is preserved, making it a powerful place of prayer and faith. Our second stop in Galizia will be the benedictine monastery of Samos. Founded in the 6th century, the Monastery of Samos is one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Spain and a historic landmark on the Camino de Santiago. Over the centuries, it played a key role in monastic life, learning, and hospitality, preserving important architectural elements from different periods, including Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles. Time for lunch and continue to Lugo. Accommodation in our hotel and visit of the center of the city. Lugo is an ancient city of Roman origin and an important stop for pilgrims in Galicia. Famous for its exceptionally preserved Roman walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lugo is also unique for its continuous Eucharistic exposition in the Cathedral of Santa María, a rare tradition that gives the city a special spiritual identity. Holy mass in the Cathedral. Dinner and overnight.

LUGO- SOBRADOS DE LOS MONXES–SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Breakfast in hotel. Today we will make our way to Santiago de Compostela. First stop will be the monastery of Sobrado dos Monxes. Founded in the 10th century, the Monastery of Sobrado dos Monxes is one of the most important Cistercian monasteries in Spain and a significant stop on the Camino de Santiago. After a period of decline, it was restored by the Cistercian Order and became a major spiritual and cultural center in medieval Galicia. Renowned for its imposing Baroque church and serene monastic setting, the monastery has long offered hospitality to pilgrims. Today, it remains an active monastery and a place of prayer, reflection, and continuity of monastic life along the Camino. We will continue then our way to Santiago with a stop in Monte do Gouzo, point of entrance of the pilgrims in Santiago from the French way. From here the participants who wants, can experience entering in Santiago walking with a simple path of 3,5 miles. The people that don’t want to walk can reach the city by bus. Accommodation in our hotel and time for lunch. Time to rest and Pilgrim Mass in the Cathedral possibly with the Botafumeiro (giant thurible/incense burner). Dinner and overnight.

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - FINISTERRE

Breakfast in hotel and city walking tour of Santiago, visiting the Cathedral with the Tomb of St. James the Apostle. Holy Mass at the church of the convent of St Pelayo and time for lunch.
In the afternoon excursion to the Sanctuary of the Virgin de La Barca. Muxía’s Our Lady of the Boat shrine, Nosa Señora da Barca or Virxe da Barca in Galician, is in a very unique spot, right by the ocean, and believed to have been a sacred place of cult for villagers since pre-Christian times. This Sanctuary born in Muxía and was the landing place of the stone boat that carried Virgin Mary when she arrived in Galicia to help Saint James convert the locals. The granite stones you will find near the sanctuary are said to be the remains of the Virgin Mary’s stone boat: the sail, the helm and the boat itself. Since the 12th century, pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago have travelled further on after reaching Santiago de Compostela to pay tribute to Our Lady of the Boat in Muxía. We will continue then to Cabo Finisterre. Return to Santiago for dinner and overnight.

Day 8
SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - PONTEVEDRA - BOM JESUS

This morning we leave Santiago to enter in Portugal. Before we leave Spain we stop in Pontevedra. First we visit the Sanctuary of the Apparition where Sister Lúcia, the visionary of Fátima, lived here as a Dorothean nun. In this place in 1925, she received the apparition of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus, during which the Devotion of the Five First Saturdays was requested. We will continue then to the center of the city to visit the chapel of the Pilgrim’s Virgin where we will have the Holy Mass. The Construction began in 1778 and it is one of the most symbolic and important buildings in the city of Pontevedra. It is dedicated to the Virgin who, according to tradition, guided pilgrims from Bayona, in the south-west of the province of Pontevedra, to Santiago de Compostela. After lunch we will enter Portugal to reach Braga. Arrival in Braga vist to the center of the city and the Cathedral. Visit of the sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte. Dinner and overnight in Bom jesus

BOM JESUS – BRAGA – COIMBRA - FATIMA

This morning, after breakfast, we will leave Braga and we will travel To Coimbra. Visit of St Teresa Covent. As a Discalced Carmelite Convent, this is like many other Carmelite convents; however, there has been one notable occupant of the convent: Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries of Fatima. The Fatima apparitions took place in 1917, and Sister Lucy moved to Porto in 1921. In 1948 she entered the Carmelite convent in Coimbra and took her vows on May 31, 1949, taking the religious name Sister Maria Lúcia of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart. As a cloistered nun, she had little contact with the outside world (perhaps her most famous visitor was Pope John Paul II). She lived here until her death in 2005. Holy Mass at the convent. Visit of the ancient University and the Library. After the visit and the time for lunch transfer to Fatima. Upon arrival accommodation in our hotel. FATIMA

After Breakfast. Concelebrated Holy Mass at the Chapel of the Apparition. Visit of Adjustrel and Os Valinhos birthplaces of Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom the Virgin appeared for the first time on May 13th, 1917. Via Crucis in Os Valinhos, up to Loca do Cabeco, place of the 4th appearance of Our Lady. This afternoon is dedicated to visiting the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Visit of the exhibition: “ Faces of Fatima” where is conserved the crown with the bullet that wounded John Paul II. In the evening, we join the Rosary and candlelight procession. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 11
FATIMA - LISBON

Breakfast in hotel and departure to Lisbon. Upon arrival we will start our journey in the birthplace of St Anthony with the Monastery Dos Jeronimos and the Belem tower (from outside) Time for Lunch . In the afternoon we will visit Placa dos Rossios and Placa dos Restauradores. We will continue then with the Cathedral of Lisbon, the church of Nossa Senora de Conceicao Velha and the church od St. Antony where we will have the Holy Mass. We will pass by Avenida de liberdade and we will have a walk tour of the quarter of Alfama. Dinner and overnight in our hotel

Return Home

Breakfast. Time available and transfer to Lisbon airport in time to board the return flight.
